Interrupted by Captain Midnight

HBO's signal is hijacked.

In the early morning hours of April 27, 1986, people in the Eastern half of the U.S. watching The Falcon and the Snowman on HBO found their signal interrupted by a test pattern and a strange text message that said:

GOODEVENING HBO
FROM CAPTAIN MIDNIGHT
$12.95/MONTH ?

[SHOWTIME/MOVIE CHANNEL BEWARE!]

Captain Midnight turned out to be John R. MacDougall, a 25 year old satellite operator from Ocala, Floria, who was upset at HBO's recent price hike. You can read this article to learn more about the incident.
